Answer: There are 23 passengers buying 50 paise tickets and 25 passengers buying 75 paise tickets.

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of passengers who bought 50 paise tickets = 2x+5

Number of passengers who bought 75 paise tickets = 3x-2

Since we have given that

Total number of passengers = 48

According to question, it becomes,

2x+5+3x-2=48\\\\5x+3=48\\\\5x=48-3\\\\5x=45\\\\x=\dfrac{45}{5}\\\\x=9

So, Number of passenger who bought 50 paise tickets = 2x+5=2×9+5=18+5=23

Number of passengers who bought 75 paise tickets = 3x-2=3×9-2=27-2=25.

Thus, there are 23 passengers buying 50 paise tickets and 25 passengers buying 75 paise tickets.
