In a camp there was provision for 50 days. After 14 days 30 men left the camp and the provision lasted for 45 days. How many men were there originally in the camp? Another query is that shouldn't the provisions last for more than 50 days since the no. of men has decreased? Please guide.

Answer:

Let originally there are N people and each person eats k gm of food.

Then the total amount of food =Nk50

In 14 days amount of food consumed=Nk14

Amount of food left Nk50-Nk14=Nk36

This amount of food is consumed by N-30 men in 45 days

Nk36=(N-30)k45

36N=45N-1350

9N=1350

N=1350/9=150

Ans 150 days

Ans yes
