Step-by-step explanation:

let boys be 5x

and, girls be 3x

according to the question,

no of boys joined later on =4

we can also write as 5x+4

no of students in the camp = 160 (given)

5x+4+3x=160

8x+4=160

8x=160 - 4

x= 156/8

x=19.5

but, we can not say the no of boys in decimal

So, no. of boys = 20

given

total students = 160 student

ratio of boys and girls = 5:3

to \: find

new ratio of boys and girls

solution

Let the number be 5x and 3x.

According to the question

5x + 3x = 160

8x = 160

x =  \frac{160}{8}

x = 20

Therefore

Number of boys = 5x = 5* 20 = 100 boys

Number of girls = 3x = 3* 20 = 60 girls

According to conditions

4 more boys came to camp

Now total number of boys = (100 + 4) = 104 boys
