Given :-

  • In a car race, two-third of B's rate was equal to three - fourth of A's rate.
  • If the race was of 1080 km and the speed of A is given as 120 kmph .

To Find :-

  • in what time would B finish the race ?

Solution :-

Given that,

→ (2/3) of B speed = (3/4) of A speed .

Also, given speed of A is 120 km/h.

So,

(2/3) of B speed = (3/4) * 120

→ (2/3) of B speed = 3 * 30

→ B speed = (90) * (3/2)

→ B speed = 135 km/h.

Now,

→ Distance covered = Length of race = 1080 km .

→ speed of B = 135km/h.

Therefore,

Time taken by B = (Distance covered) / (Speed)

→ Time = (1080/135)

→ Time = 8 Hours. (Ans.)

Hence, B would take 8 hours to finish the race.
