In a cell containing iron electrode and standard hydrogen electrode iron acts as an anode.

What normally happens is that when standard hydrogen electrode is used in a cell with another metal electrode, its role is normally to act as a reference electrode.  

Reference electrode, in this case, is standard hydrogen electrode and its potential difference is normally 0.00V.

The overall potential difference obtained using this reference electrode is the pd of the other electrode and in this case, it is the pd
