Step-by-step explanation:

let the no of children be X

11x = 2 × x² + 12

2x² - 11x + 12 = 0

2x² -8x - 3x + 12 = 0

2x (x - 4) - 3 (x - 4) = 0

(2x - 3) (x - 4) = 0

2x - 3 = 0

2x = 3

x = 3/2. (...neglect it)

x - 4 = 0

x = 4

therefore total no of children in family are 4.
