Step-by-step explanation:

Question :-

  • In a certain fraction, the denominator is 4 less than the numerater if 3 is added to both the numerater and denominator the resulting fraction is equal to 9/7 find the original number

Solution :-

Let the fraction be x/x + 4

  • When 3 added to both numerator and denominator is become :-

→ x + 3/x+ 4 + 3 = 9/7

→ x + 3/x + 7 = 9/7

  • On cross Multiplication

→ 7x + 21 = 9x + 63

→ 21 - 63 = 2x

→ - 42 \div 2 = x

→ x = - 21
