The number of families owning a smart television are :35/100

The ones owning a hutchback:25/100

Getting the total who own smart television and hutchback=60/100

55% of the remaining neither own smart or hutch back :=55/100×40/100=22/100

Adding this to the total we get:22/100+60/100=82/100

The remainder =100/100-82/100=18/100

The remainder represents those who own both televisions and this represents the 15 families.

Getting the total families, we use cross multiplication.

100/18 × 15=84. 333

Since we cannot have a fraction family, then we give our answer as a whole number which is 84.

Therefore the total families =84
