In a certain household in Montreal, noticed that on Christmas day, the electricity consumption was very high, resulting in a cost of 44$ just for that particular day of the month. The electric company charges a 10% consumption tax on the bill per day. If the cost for lighting and other appliances was 8$, the cost of heating was 24$, the cost of laundry was 4$ and the remaining amount was for refrigeration, calculate the units of each appliance consumed on Christmas Day if the rate per unit in Montreal is 8 ¢.

Answer:

refrigerator-50 units,lighting and others - 100 units , heating - 300 units , laundry - 50units

Explanation:

if the total cost on Christmas is 44 and the rate of tax is 10 percent then the cost without tax is 40 dollars.

then we can makeout the exact cost of electricity used by each appliance.

as the question say each unit of electricity costs 8 cents we will divide the total cost with 8 cent (first we have to convert in same unit)

then we can easily makeout the consumption of units of electricity of each appliance
