40% of 80 matches is 32.

Let,Additional matches be 'x'

ATQ,

32+x/80+x= 60/100

By calculating, x=40.

So,Additional 40 matches is needed to win 60% matches.

Answer:  The answer is B 40

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Given data

Success rate, s = 40% = 0.4

First matches played M = 80

New success rate required = 60% = 0.6

Step 2: Find number of initial wins

Initial success, s = No. of wins / First Matches played

s= \frac{W}{80}

0.4 X 80 = W

Therefore, number of wins W = 0.4 X 80 = 32

Step 3: Find extra matches to play so that success rate is 0.6

Let x be the extra matches to be played and win so that our new success rate is 0.6 ,

New success = 0.6 = 32+x/ 80+x

0.6(80 + x) = 32 + x

48 + 0.6x = 32 +x

16 = 0.4x

x = 16/0.4

x = 40
