in a certain study on occurance of DDT along food chain in ecosystem the concentration of DDT in grass was found to be 0.5ppm (parts per million), in sheep it was 2ppm and in man it was 10ppm. why was the concentration of DDT the maximum in humans?

in man it was found highest because man is mostly the last stage of a food chain so concentration of DDT man has includes the sum of all the organisms or plants DDT'S before man in it

Answer:
This process is known as biomagnification which can cause havoc if not treated at an early stage or at a lower trophic level which falls under the pyramid of food chain.
Such increase in the DDT concentration is due to bio accumulation and thus with every rise in trophic level the concentration goes on increasing and at last becomes deadly.
