Question => In a certain test, the number of successful candidates was three times than that of unsuccessful candidates . If there had been 16 fewer candidates and if 6 more would have been unsuccessful, then number would have been as 2 to 1. Find the number of candidates.

Answer => let unsuccesful candidate = x then succesful person=3x

total candidate=4x

according to question,

now remaining 4x-16 candidate.

now,

unsuccesful candidate = x-4

succcesful candidate=3x-12

if we add 6 more unsuccesful candidate x+2 unsuccesful candidate

according to question:

2(x+2) = 3x-12

2x+4=3x-12

x=16

total candidate=4x 4×16 =64

so answer =64
