To Find : how many hours did lisa spend on doing her mathematics home work?

Solution:

lisa spent on doing her mathematics home work = M  hrs

the amount of time lisa spent on watching television was 3 hours more than twice the time she spent on doing her mathematics homework.

lisa spent on watching television = 2M + 3  hrs

Total time spent on these two activities = M + 2M + 3

= 3M + 3 hrs

3 M  +  3 = 30

=> 3M  = 27

=> M = 9

lisa spent on doing her mathematics home work = 9  hrs
