In a chemical reaction 10.6 g of sodium carbonate
reacted with 12 g of ethanoic acid. The products were 4.4
g carbon dioxide, 1.8 g of water and sodium ethanoate.
The mass of sodium ethanoate formed is
(a) 16.4 g
(b) 0.16 g
(c) 249
(d) 8.2g

16.4 gm

Let the mass of sodium etanoate is “x”g

Acoording to law of conservation of mass,

Sum of masses of reactants = Sum of masses of products

Hence, 10.6g +12.g = x + 4.4g +1.8g

⇒ x = 16.4g

Thus, the mass of sodium ethanoate formed is 16.4g

Answer:

According to me answer should be 22.6gm but in option there only 16.4gm is near to my answer . So, I think 16.4gm should be the answer.

The word equation for the chemical reaction is

sodium carbonate + ethanoic acid will give you sodium ethanote, caron dioxide and water.
Mass of reactants=(10.6+12)=22.6g
Mass of products=(16.4+4.4+1.8)=22.6g
Since the mass of reactants species is equal to the mass of the product species. the data illustrates the law of conservation of mass.
