In a circle of radius 5cm, PQ & RS are two parallel chords of length 8cm and 6 cm respectively. calculate the distance between the chords if they are one the same side of the centre.

let the center be O
draw perpendicular from O on both chord
now,by pythagoras' formula
distance from center to PQ= √((5)²-(4)²)= 3 cm
and, center to RS =√((5)²-(3)²)=4 cm
so distance between the chords will be 4-3 = 1cm
