The length of the chord is 10 cm.

Given:

In a circle radius is 13cm, a chord is drawn at a distance of 12cm from the center.

To find:

Find the length of the chord

Solution:

Formula used:

The Length of the Chord formula using Perpendicular Distance (d) from the Center and the radius (r) is given by

Chord Length = 2 × √(r² − d²)

Here we have

The radius of the circle, r = 13 cm

The perpendicular distance of the chord from center, d = 12 cm

By the formula, Chord Length = 2 × √(r² − d²)

Length of the chord =  2 × √(13² − 12²)

= 2 × √(169 − 144 )

= 2 × √(25)

= 2 × 5

= 10 cm

Therefore,

The length of the chord is 10 cm.
