In a circle with centre O, segment PQ is a chord of length 18 cm, segment OA

perpendicular to chord PQ, find length AQ, and segment AO, segment QO is equal

to 15 cm.​

Answer:

Since OA is perpendicular to PQ

Then OA bisects PQ

Therefore AQ=½PQ=½*18=9cm

Also triangle OAQ is right angle triangle.

By Pythagoras theorem

OQ²=OA²+AQ²

=>OA²=OQ²-AQ²

=15²-9²=225-81=144

=>OA=12
