Given

In a circle , there are two chord of length 24 cm each . radius of circle is 13 cm . find the distance of these chords from the centre of the circle

To Find

  • Distance of the Chord from the Centre.

Solution

Given that ,

AB = 24 cm Since OM LAB ⇒OM bisects AB So, AM = 12 cm

⇒ OMA,

⇒ OA² = OM²+ AM²

⇒ OM² - OA²-AM² =

⇒ OM²= 132-122

⇒ OM² = 25

⇒ OM² = 5 cm

Therefore

Hence, the distance of the chord from the centre is 5 cm.
