In a circle with radius 13 cm, two equal chords are at a distance of 5 cm from the centre.Find the lengths of the chord​

Answer:

Let c is the center of circle.

CA is radius, so CA=13 cm.

AB is the chord, now draw a perpendicular from centre to chord, let it is CN and CN=5cm.

Use pythagoras theorem in triangle ANC,

AN=sqrt(13^2-5^2)

AN=sqrt (144)

AN=12cm.

Chord =2*AN=2*12=24cm
