In a circuit, rohit observed that copper is deposisted on the electrode connected to the negative terminal of the battery. Meena tried to repeat the same experiment. But she could find only one copper plate. Therefore she took a carbon rod as negative electrode. Will copper be still deposisted on the carbon rod? Explain.

Explanation:

Yes, copper will be deposited on the carbon rod. This is because, although there is only one copper plate, the copper plate will give away copper which in turn will be absorbed by the copper sulfate solution due to electroplating. Therefore Meena will be able to see copper being deposited on the carbon rod, which has been used as a negative electrode by her.
