In a circuit shown in figure,the heat produced in 3 ohm resistor due to current flowing in it is 12J.The heat produced in 4 ohm resistor

P =I2R  

Or

H = I2R

Put the values.

12J = I2 X 3

12 /3 = I2

OR

I2 =12 /3  = 4 (Taking square root on both sides)

Current , I = 2 ampere

Now find the heat produced in 4-ohm resistance.

H = I2R

H = (2)2 X 4  

H = 4 x 4

H = 16 J  

Thus the heat produced in 4-ohm reisistance is 16J.
