Solution

Given :-

  • Three resistor connected in series , 5 ohm , 9ohm & 11ohm
  • Two are connected in parallel , 10 ohm & 4 ohm

Find :-

  • total resistance of circuit

Explanation

Using Formula

For Series Connection

R = r + r' + r"

For Parallel connection

1/R' = 1/r + 1/r'

Where,

  • R , R' are total resistance in series & parallel connection
  • r , r' & r" are resistor

Here,For Series Connection

  • r = 5 ohm
  • r' = 9 ohm
  • r" = 11 ohm

Then, total resistance

==> R = 5 + 9 + 11

==> R = 25 ohm

Now for parallel connection

Total resistance

==> 1/R' = 1/10 + 1/4

==> 1/R' = ( 2 + 5)/20

==> 1/R' = 7/20

or,

==> R' = 20/7 ohm

So , Now

If we find total resistance of whole connection then both both resistance will be in series connection.

So,

==> R" = R + R'

==> R" = 25 + 20/7

==> R" = (25×7 + 20)/7

==> R " = (175 + 20)/7

==> R" = 195/7 ohm

Hence

  • Total resistance of whole connection will be = 195/7 ohm
