Now,

Population of children =\frac{1}{4}

We have to convert the given fraction into equivalent fraction

So, \frac{1}{4} divide and multiply with 5

=\frac{1}{4}\times\frac{5}{5}

= \frac{5}{20}

Population of women = \frac{7}{20}

Total population of a city = \frac{20}{20}

Population of men = \frac{20}{20}-(\frac{7}{20}+\frac{5}{20})

= \frac{20}{20}-\frac{12}{20}

=\frac{20-12}{20}

=\frac{8}{20}

=\frac{2}{5}

Therefore, population of men is \frac{2}{5}.
