Answer:

183

Step-by-step explanation:

5x + 3x = 488

8x = 488

x = 488/8

x = 61

No. of 3 storeyed building = 5x = 5 × 61 = 305

No. of four storeyed building = 3x = 3 × 61 = 183

Answer:

Let the no. of three storeyed buildings = X

And no. of four storeyed building = Y

given,

X/Y =5/3

so, X = 5Y/3 ..... (i)

And,

X + Y = 488 ...... (ii)

Putting Eq. i in ii,

5Y/3 + Y = 488

By taking LCM,

(5Y + 3Y)/3 = 488

8Y = 488 × 3

Y = (488 × 3)/8

Y = 61 × 3

Y = 183

Now, Putting the value of Y in eq.ii,

X + 183 = 488

X = 488 - 183

X = 305

Hence, no. if three storeyed buildings, X = 305 and no. of four storeyed building, Y =183
