We know that the full of anything 100% .

Per cent of boys in the class = 100% - Per cent of girls

Per cent of boys in the class = 100% - 20%

Per cent of boys in the class = 80%

Given that there are 40 students in the class. As we have got that the total number of boys in the class is 80% of the total number of students.

∴ Number of boys in the class = 80% of 40

Number of boys in the class = 80 / 100 x 40

Number of boys in the class  = 8 x 4

Number of boys in the class = 32

Hence, the number of boys in the class is 32.
