Given:

Students speaking Gujarati = 6

Students speaking Hindi = 15

Students speaking Marathi = 6

To Find:

Total number of students in the class

Solution:

People can speak Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi

Thus,

Only Gujarati speakers -

=  6 - 2 - 1

= 3

Only Hindi speakers -

= 15 - 2 - 1

= 12

Only Marathi speakers -

= 6 - 1

= 5

Hence, the number of students who can speak only one language is -

3 + 12 + 5

= 20

Number of students who can speak two languages = 2

Number of students who an speak all the languages = 1

Therefore, total number of students in the class

= 20 + 2 + 1

= 23.

Answer: Total number of students in the class is 23.
