Answer:

Lets take total number of pupils =x

So, As per question, Total increase in marks=x×

2/1=x/2

So ,

X/2=83−63=20

x=40

Average

Given:

Marks of one student is written as 92 instead of 56.

Average marks increased from 71.75 to 72.50.

Marks of 2 new students got added as 53 and 54 marks respectively.

To find:

After adding marks of new students new average=?

Explanation:

Let the no. of students initially be x.

Average was 71.75

Increase in marks =(92-56)=36

Increased average=72.50

So,

increase in marks will be equal to the product of increase in average and number of students.

(72.50-71.75)x=36\\\\=>0.75x=36\\\\=>x=48

Hence, number of students is 48 initially, after that 2 new student's average got added, so,

Total marks =(48\times71.75)+53+54=3551

Total number of students will be (48+2)=50

So, new average will be \frac{3551}{50}=71.02

Hence the required answer is 71.02.
