Explanation:

Total no.of students=20.

As we know no.of girls=12/20

=>3/5

No.of boys 20-12=8.

Let the chosen no.be boy=8/20

.No of boys=8

Hence P (Choosing a boy)=8/20

==>2/5.

Answer:

total no of ways to select one student = 16+20=36

no. of way that selected student is a girl is =20

hence probability that selected student is a girl =

 \frac{20}{36}  =  \frac{5}{9}
