Answer: 1) 4

2) 13

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of students in a class n(A∪B)= 25

Economics students n(A)= 12

Number of students take economics but not mathematics = 8

1) Number of students take economics and mathematics  n(A∩B)= 12-8 = 4

Now

2) n(A∪B) = n(A)+n(B)-n(A∩B)

25= 12+n(B)- 4

n(B)= 17

now number of students taken maths but not economics = 17-4= 13

Hence, 1) number of students have taken maths and economics = 4

2) number of students taken maths but not economics= 13
