Answer:

There are 1440 boys in the class

Step-by-step explanation:

Total in class 3600

A, 45 % of these is 1620 who went for picnic

B, remaining 55% is 1980 who did not go for picnic

lets take the ratio

Boys : Girls

36% : 54 %,  36 : 54   => 2:3

The 2:3 ratio indicates a multiple of 5 since you cannot have a fraction of a person in the equation (2+3=5). You would need to divide the total number of students by 5. Multiply the values to get the actual breakdown of girls to boys

Apply 2 : 3 ratio with A & B

1620/5*2 = 648 boys went for picnic

1980/5*2 = 792 boys did not go for picnic

so the total boys in class is 1440
