In a class of 40 pupils, the number of girls is three-fifths of the number of boys. Find the number of boys in the class.​

so, x+3/5(x)=40

Now , x + 3x/5 = 40  

= (5x + 3x)/5 = 40  

= 8x = 200

= x = 200/8

Substitute x

boys = 25

girls 3/5 x25 = 15

Check -

25+15 = 40 = total pupils
