let number of girls be x and boys be y
x+y=41 ---1 eqn
x= y+7
x-y=7---2 eqn

from 1and 2 x+y=41
x-y=7
by elimination method y gets cancelled
so. 2x =48
hence x= 24
therefore no. of girls is 24
