\sf{\underline{Answer:}} 27

\sf{\underline{We\:know\:that:}}

Total number of boys:

Soon after the 2 new boys joined:

\implies 47

\sf{\underline{Since:}} The rank of the boy dropped by 1,

\sf{\underline{It\:became:}} \implies 21st 20th.

\sf{\underline{Therefore:}}

His new rank from the end:

\implies 47 - 21 + 1

\implies 47 - 20

\implies \boxed{\huge{\sf{27th}}}

\sf{\underline{Note:}} It can be solved in other way also.

After 2 boys joined,

\sf{\underline{Total\:strength\:of\:the\:class:}}

\implies 45 + 2

\implies 47

As rank was dropped by one from 20th rank, new rank is 21st.

Rank of the boy from the beginning:

\implies 21

Number of students,

\sf{\underline{Below\:his\:rank:}}

\implies 47 - 21

\implies 26

\sf{\underline{Rank\:from\:the\:end:}}

\implies (47 - 21) + 1

\implies 26 + 1

\implies \boxed{\huge{\sf{27th}}}

\sf{\underline{Therefore:}}

His new rank from the end is 27th.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Total number of boys:

Soon after the 2 new boys joined:

47

The rank of the boy dropped by 1,

 21st 20th.

His new rank from the end:

47 - 21 + 1

47 - 20

It can be solved in other way also.

After 2 boys joined,

45 + 2

47

As rank was dropped by one from 20th rank, new rank is 21st.

Rank of the boy from the beginning:

21

Number of students,

47 - 21

26

(47 - 21) + 1

26 + 1
