In a class of 48 students girls are 1/17th times of the number of boys . Find the number of boys

Let the number of boys be X.


Number of girls = 1/7 of boys = 1/7 X = X/7

Total number of students = 48


Therefore,


Number of boys + Number of girls = Total Number of students



X + X/7 = 48



7X + X/7 = 48


7X + X = 48 × 7


8X = 336


X = 336/8


X = 42



Total Number of boys = X = 42


And,



Number of girls = X/7 = 42/7 = 6
