Covert it in ratio

1:6

6=boy

1=girl

Sum of ratio =6+1=7

Total=49

1 ratio =49/7

No of girls =1x7

No of boys=6x7

Let the boys =x

Then girls=x/6

Total =

X=7x6=42

X=boys=42

Girls=49-42=7

and the number of girls in the class = $\frac{1}{6}×x$ = $\frac{x}{6}$

According to the question,
total number of student = 49

therefore,
x + $\frac{x}{6}$ = 49

=> $\frac{6x + x}{6}$ = 49 [Taking L.C.M]

=> $\frac{7x}{6}$ = 49

=> 7x = 49 × 6

=> 7x = 294

=> x = $\frac{294}{7}$

=> x = 42

therefore, number of boys = x = 42
and number of girls = $\frac{x}{6}$
