Girls =1/6 of boys

1 way -

Covert it in ratio

1:6

6=boy
1=girl

Sum of ratio =6+1=7

Total=49

1 ratio =49/7

=7

No of girls =1x7

=7

No of boys=6x7

=42

2nd way - -

Let the boys =x
Then girls=x/6

Total =
$x + \frac{x}{6}$

$x + \frac{x}{6} = 49$

$\frac{6x + x}{6} = 49$

$7x = 49 \times 6$

X=7x6=42

X=boys=42

Girls=49-42=7
