Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

n(U) = 50

n(E) = 12

n(M) = 20

n(E-M) = 8

n(E-M) = n(EUM) - n(M)

n(EUM) = 8 + 20

            = 28

Students who have taken maths and economics,

n[E(intersection)M] = n(E) + n(M) - n(EUM)

                               = 12 + 20 - 28

                               = 32 - 28

                               = 4

Students who have taken maths but not economics,

n(M-E) = n(EUM) - n(E)

           = 28 - 12

           = 16
