30 students passed only in mathematics.

Total number of students in that class = 70

Number of students failed in mathematics = 30

∴ Number of students passed in mathematics = (70 - 30)

                                                                            = 40

Number of students failed in statistics = 35

∴ Number of students passed in statistics = (70 - 35)

                                                                     = 35

Number of students passed in both subjects = 10

∴ Number of students passed only in mathematics = (40 - 10)

                                                                                    = 30

∴ 30 students passed only in mathematics.

This problem can also be solved by using Venn Diagram.
