In a class of 72 students, the number of boys is 3/5 of the girls. Find the number of boys and girls in the class.

Given :-

• Total Students = 72

• No. of boys are 3/5 of the girls

To Find :-

• Number of boys and girls in the class

Answer :-

• Boys = 27

• Girls = 45

Solution :-

Let no. of girls =$\sf x$

So, boys = $\sf{\dfrac{3x}{5}}$

A.T.Q

$\sf{\dfrac{3x}{5}+x=72}$

Now take the L.C.M and then cross-multiply fo value of x

$\sf{\dfrac{3x+5x}{5}=72}$

$\sf{8x=72\times 5}$

$\sf{8x=360}$

$\sf{x=\dfrac{360}{8}}$

$\sf{x=45}$

So , No. of girls in the class are 45

Boys -

$\mapsto\sf{\dfrac{3x}{5}}$

$\mapsto\sf{\dfrac{3\times45}{5}}$

$\mapsto\sf{\dfrac{3\times\cancel{45}}{\cancel{5}}}$

$\mapsto\sf{3\times 9}$

$\mapsto\sf{27\:boys}$

So, No. of boys in the class are 27
