Answer:

a) 4

b) 11

Step-by-step explanation:

a) He attempted 7 questions correctly so marks awarded for those 7 questions is 14 as +2 marks are given for every correct answer, His final score is 10 so he must have attempted 4 questions incorrectly as -1 marks are given for every incorrect answer.

b) She got 4 incorrect answers so that means - 4 marks as -1 marks are awarded for every incorrect answer. So if we add 4 to 18 then we see that we get 22. I basically used transposition to solve the equation. so 22/2 is 11 as +2 marks are given for every correct answer. Hence, the no. of correct answers she gave is 11.

Answer:

a) number of marks obtained for 7 correct answers = 7×2=14

final marks =10

number of marks cut = 14-10 =4

number of incorrect answers =4÷1 = 4

b)number of marks cut for incorrect answers =4×1=4

total marks =18

number of correct answers =(18+4)÷2

= 22÷2 = 11
