In a class test containing 15 questions, 4 marks are given for every correct answer and (─2) marks are
given for every incorrect answer. (4)
i) Gurpreet attempts all questions but only 10 of his answers are correct. What is his score?
ii) One of his friends, Sahil, gets only 7 answers correct. What will be Sahil’s score?

given,

one correct answer = 4 marks

one incorrect answer = - 2marks

(i) 10 correct answers = 10 x 40 = 40 marks

5 incorrect answers = 5 x (-2) = -10marks

total score = 40 + (-10) = 40 - 10 = 30 marks

(ii) 7 correct ansers = 7 x 4 = 28 marks

8 incorrect answers = 8 x (-2) = -16 marks

total score = 28 + (-16) = 28 - 16 = 12 marks
