2

\red { The \: total \:score } \green {= 32 }

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose the number of correct answered questions be 'x' , then number of wrongly answer questions = (20-x).

It is given that for every correct answer 4 marks are awarded .

Number of marks scored for correct answers = 4x

And it is given that for every wrongly answered question ' 2 ' marks are deducted .

Number of marks to be deducted from the score = (20-x) × 2 = 40 - 2x ,

Total Score = 4x - ( 40 - 2x )

= 4x - 40 + 2x

= 6x - 40

But it is given that x = 12( correct answered questions)

= 6 × 12 - 40

= 72 - 40

= 32

Therefore \: \red { The \: total \:score } \green {= 32 }
