GivEn:

  • In a class test containing 20 questions, 5 marks was given for every answer and (-2) marks was given for every incorrect answer.
  • Raj attempted all the questions and 15 of his answers were correct.

To find:

  • His total score.

Solution:

• Since 15 were correct, 5 will be incorrect.

Let his total score be x.

⠀⠀━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⠀

« Finding his total score i.e x,

→ x = 15(5) + 5(-2)

→ x = 75 + 5(-2)

→ x = 75 + (-10)

x = 65

∴ Hence, His total score is 65.

⠀⠀━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⠀

« Now, Let's verify it,

Substituting the values in the equation "x = 15(5) + 5(-2)" If left hand side is equal to right hand side, Our answer is correct.

→ x = 15(5) + 5(-2)

→ 65 = 15(5) + 5(-2)

→ 65 = 75 + (-10)

→ 65 = 65

LHS = RHS

Hence Verified !
