Given : In a class test having three sections, A scored a total of 51 marks. A's score in the second section was greater than his score in the first section by 7 and lower than his score in the third section by 7.

To Find : How many marks did A score in the second section?

1] 15

3] 24

4] 17

2] 10

Solution:

A score in the second section = M

A's score in the second section was greater than his score in the first section by 7

=> Score in 1st section = M - 7

A's score in  the second section was lower than his score in the third section by 7.

=> score in 3rd section = M + 7

Total Score = M + M - 7 + M + 7

= 3M

3M = 51

=> M = 17

A score in the second section = 17
