When marks obtained in maths are 9 , the marks in science are 15 .

When marks in maths are 12 , the marks in math are 12.

Let the marks obtained in maths and science be x and y respectively.

Given, sum = 28

=> x + y = 28

=> y = 28 - x

If P got 3 marks more in maths , marks in maths = x + 3

If P got 4 marks less in science , marks in science = y-4

Given , (x+3)×(y - 4) = 180

=> (x+3)(28-x-4)=180

=> (x+3)(24-x)=180

=> 24x-x²+72-3x=180

=> 21x-x²-180=0

=> x²-21x+180=0

=> x²-12x-9x+108=0

=> x(x-12)-9(x-12)=0

=> (x-9)(x-12)=0

∴x=9,12

When x = 9 , y = 24 - 9 = 15

When x = 12 , y = 24 -12 = 12
