let the no. of girls =x
then no. of boys =x-8....
given total no. of boys and girls=48
x+x-8=48
2x-8=48
2x=56
x=28..
therefor no. of girls =28 and boys=28-8=20....
plz mark as brainlist and give it a big heart.. .

We can write this situation in the form of a linear equation with two variables. We can take 'b' to represent boys and 'g' to represent girls. So-

b=g-8\\b-g=-8

This is our first equation. The second equation will be as follows-

b+g=48

So, now, we can add both the equations together, to obtain the value of boys and girls-

(b-g) + (b+g) = -8+48\\2b=40\\b=20

So the number of boys is 20. We can substitute 20 into the second equation-

b+g=48\\20+g=48\\g=28

Thus, the number of boys is 20 and the number of girls is 28.
