∴ Number of girls in class = $\frac{3}{5}$ of the total number of children

                                           = $\frac{3}{5}$ of 40

                                            = $\frac{3}{5}\times40$

                                            = 3 × 8

                                            = 24

∴ Number of girls in class= 24
