Answer:

1000 students in a class

Step-by-step explanation:

suppose total no. of students is x

then no. of boys is x*40/100

and no. of girls is x*60/100

total no. of boys failed is x*40/100*60/100

total no. of girls failed is x*60/100*40/100

if 480 students failed then

480=(x*40/100*60/100)+(x*60/100*40/100)

=24x/100+24x/100

= 48x/100

x= 480*100/48

=1000

Answer:

let total students 100x

boy. 40 x

then fail boy 40x*60/100

24x

girl. 60 x

then fail girl. 60x*40/100

24x

so total. fail. 24x+24x=48x

but according to question

fail students 480

so 48x=480

&x=10

and total students.100x=100*10

1000 students
