Let x be the original price,

So, Price after 16%increase will be,

x + (x \times \frac{16}{100}) \\=x + x(.16)\\ = x(1 + .16) = 1.16x

& increased price is 277.60

(1.16)x = 277.20 \\ or \: \: x = \frac{277.20}{1.16} = 238.9655

let original price be ₹100 as it is increased by 16% , now increased price became ₹116 which is equal to 277.20. Then ₹277.20÷₹116 = 2.38 ,then our original price will be 2.38×100 which is equal to ₹238
