In a closed container and at constant temperature
0.3 mole of SO, & 0.2 mole of O2 gas at 750 torr
are kept with a catalyst. If at equilibrium 0.2 mole
of SO2, is formed the partial pressure of SO2, is ..... torr

Answer:

To produce 0.2 moles SO3 0.2 moles of SO2 and 0.1 moles of O2 should be consumed.

Leftover moles of SO2=0.3-0.2=0.1

                              O2=0.2-0.1=0.1

Initially total number of moles in gaseous phase present in the container

=0.3+0.2+0=0.5

at equilibrium=0.1+0.1+0.2=0.4

pressure in a closed container is proportional  to number of moles present in the container.

final pressure in the container=(0.4*750torr)/0.5=600torr

partial pressure of SO2 finally=(0.1/0.4)*600=150torr
